Darwine is a port of the Wine libraries to Darwin and Mac OS X.
Darwine was originally intended to support compiling of Win32 source into Mach-O/PowerPC binaries for Macintosh computers. The project is now combining Wine's program loader with QEMU, an x86 emulator, to allow running of Win32 binaries on Mac OS X for PowerPC.
However, Darwine's focus has shifted due to the Apple Intel transition. Darwine on new x86 Macintosh computers can run Windows programs (if compatible with Wine) natively - resulting in speeds comparable to Mac specific programs.
CodeWeavers, the developer of the Wine-based CrossOver, which makes it easier to install Windows applications on Wine, and the CrossOver Plugin, has announced that they will be porting CrossOver Office to Mac OS X on Macintoshes with Intel processors. The new product will be called CrossOver Mac.

[edit] Known flaws
- Darwine doesn't have working Direct3D or OpenGL support at the current time. This is blamed on a bug in Apple's X11 implementation preventing GLX from functioning in a way WINE expects.
- Windows XP-only applications don't run correctly.
Many bugs will be fixed over time, eventually bringing Darwine to the level of Wine on x86 Linux.[1]
