Dave Gatherum

David "Dave" Gatherum (Born March 28, 1932 in Fort William, Ontario) is a former professional hockey Goaltender. He played briefly for the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL. However He is mostly remembered as being a reliable goaltender in junior the minor leagues and later in some Senior Hockey Leagues. He won the Stanley Cup in 1954 with the Detroit Red Wings. He played 3 games while filling in for an injured Terry Sawchuk.
He played junior hockey with the local Hurricanes of the TBJHL. He then spent three years bouncing between the QHL, AHL, WHL and Detroit. When he tired of the grand tour associated with the minor pro lifestyle, Gatherum joined the Kelowna Packers of the Okanagan Senior League in British Columbia. He was workhorse there for four seasons before retiring in 1959.
