David Benoit (basketball)

David Benoit (born May 9, 1968 in Lafayette, Louisiana) is an American professional basketball player at the small forward position. Currently playing in Japan, he played seven years in the National Basketball Association (NBA), six with the Utah Jazz.
He was never drafted by an NBA franchise, but prior to his NBA career, he played professionally in Spain. He left the U.S. to play with Maccabi Tel-Aviv in Israel due in part to the 1998 NBA lockout. He returned to the Jazz two years later.
In addition to the Jazz, the high-flying Benoit also played in the NBA with the Orlando Magic and New Jersey Nets.

Benoit played in the NJCAA for Tyler Junior College from 1986 to 1988.

Benoit transferred to the University of Alabama and played two seasons with the Crimson Tide from 1988 to 1990.

Benoit's most productive NBA seasons came during his first stint with the Utah Jazz. He averaged a career high 10.4 points per game in 1994-95.

Benoit split time with the New Jersey Nets and the Orlando Magic in the 1997-98 season.

After two years away from the NBA, Benoit returned to the team that he began his career with. He played in 49 games with the Jazz in the 2000-01 season and helped the team reach the playoffs.
