David Fulton

David Paul Fulton (born Lewisham, November 15, 1971) is an English cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a left-arm slow bowler. He attended the Judd School in Tonbridge, Kent, and played first-class cricket for Kent for 15 years.

He assumed the captaincy Kent in 2003 after impressing Steve Waugh with his skills in leadership during the 2002 season where he shared the captaincy with Matthew Fleming. He was the last person to catch Viv Richards in first-class cricket and was the PCA player of the year in 2001. He also came close to being capped by England, being initially chosen for the Test at Headingley in place of Mark Butcher, according to Nasser Hussain's autobiography [1].

Fulton once suffered an eye injury from an accident with an automatic bowling machine which almost put his career in danger. He had major surgery, but returned eight weeks later. While not playing, he is also a cricketing commentator. He stepped down from the Kent one-day captaincy in July 2005 and followed up at the end of the season by deciding he did not want to be considered for the first class captaincy in 2006. He had a benefit match played in his honour in 2006, with 50% of the proceeds shared between two charities. Kent decided not to renew his contract at the end of the 2006 season, Fulton marking his 200th and last first-class appearance for Kent with 155 against Middlesex [2], [3].

His highest first class score is 208 not out amongst his 28 first class centuries at an average of 36.52. (as of 26 September 2006)

His only career wicket was taken at Canterbury, a caught and bowled of Will Kendall, the future Hampshire batsman, whilst he was batting for Oxford University in 1996.
