David Edward Martin (born January 22, 1986 in Romford) is a young goalkeeper with Accrington Stanley on loan from Liverpool. He signed for the Reds from Milton Keynes Dons on January 13, 2006, after a successful trial period. He had played 25 games for the Dons, making his debut in 2004. Before that he played for Wimbledon and was a youth-team player with Tottenham Hotspur where he originally played as defender.
He was an unused substitute in Liverpool's League Cup game against Reading on October 25, 2006 and has been capped by England as an Under-20 international.
He is the son of former West Ham United player, Alvin Martin.
Martin was signed by Accrington Stanley on loan for a month on February 23, 2007.[2] However, within five minutes of his debut, Martin succumbed to an ankle injury which ruled him out of the rest of his loan spell and he returned to Liverpool.[3] He has though since returned to Accrington Stanley on-loan after regaining his fitness.[4]
