David Parton

David (Des) Parton is a singer songwriter from Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire, England. He achieved songwriting success writing songs for Sweet Sensation in the mid 1970s, namely "Sad Sweet Dreamer" which was a No.1 single in the UK and "Purely By Coincidence" which also charted. He also sang a cover version of Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" which he was co-producing with Tony Hatch. When the original singer was unable re-create Wonder's vocal nuances, rather than dispose of the backing track, Des sang the lead vocal and it was decide to release the version. He is known as Des, as these are the initials of his first three names, David Eric Stanley. He has generally sang and played guitar with local bands of North Staffordshire to this date.
