My research tends to lean towards 1949 as his year of birth, not 1951. Anyone care to investigate further?

Coverdale was born in 1951, not 1949. He mentioned on tour in 2006 that he was soon to turn 55, thus, his year of birth is 1949.

The article is littered with POV statements, and does not have any references, citations etc. It needs a major overhaul. I added {{tl:POV}} and {{tl:References}} stubs accordingly.

I see your point, I will remove some of the content I've added that are of "narrative" nature. I will also reference any further edits. I do get carried away sometimes and I'm also new to Wiki.
