From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dawn Marie Sass (born 1959 in Wisconsin) is the current Treasurer of Wisconsin. She defeated incumbent Jack Voight on November 7, 2006. Before being elected to state office, she served as a parole officer in Milwaukee County and was a store clerk at Boston Store.
In her 2006 campaign, Sass won in a narrow upset (8,648 votes, or 0.42%) with little party support. She had spent almost $4000 on the race, most of it coming from her own pocket. [1]
Sass had previously ran for treasurer unsuccessfully in 1998 and 2002, also against Voight. She also ran unsuccessfully for the State Senate in a 2001 special election to succeed Margaret Farrow, losing the race to Ted Kanavas.
She is a member of the Democratic Party.
