[edit] Inception
The first official Day of the Wandering Caribou was celebrated on March 23rd 1994, in Montreal, Canada. A typical observance of this holiday includes visiting an alcohol-serving establishment, fraternizing with friends and strangers alike, and introducing people to the concept of the Wandering Caribou Day.
Since 1998, the holiday has been celebrated on March 23rd of every year in the West Island of Montreal at "Le Manoir", a brasserie in Pointe-Claire on the corner of St-Jean and Hymus boulevards. Revelers dress up in custom-made festive shirts, and will generally exhibit tremendous tolerance to alcohol as they drink their way well into the morning of March 24th.
The initiators of this holiday would like to remain anonymous, and therefore official references only include their nicknames: "gMo" and "SeanR". Their real names may or may not be Graham Watt and Sean Campbell.
[edit] Creativity
Wandering Caribou Day celebrators seem to focus not only on discussions, but also on entertainment. Drinking games are quite common, but not all games are alcohol-related. Funny clothing - plush antlers, or other Caribou-related references are welcome. Music is also chosen to correspond with the theme of the holiday.
