Black Market Goods are a band from Belper, Derbyshire, England. The band was first formed in 2004 when they where 14 Years Old, at Belper School by Mark Rice, Rob Bilssett, James Killer and asked Dan Williams(drumer in Purple Phoenix)to sing and play bass, under the name James came up with Eight Ball.
With a new name Black Market Goods(also by James) and a song to learn AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long and a school rock gig to play it at, they would practice at James's house every Wednesday. They wrote a song called Sex On Legs but by the time it was complete they had nowhere to practice, and Dan left not long after.
With two new singers Samantha Elks and Natalie Levente(also playing bass) and a new song to learn Vic Reeves and The Wonder Stuff - Dizzy again to be played at a school rock gig, they where again practicing at James's.
A short time after the gig Samantha left, now practicing at the Fleet Arts they where now learning Red Hot Chili Peppers - Can't Stop, with Natalie and James on Guitar, Rob on Bass and Mark on Drums, it was at this time that the band started to get gigs outside of school, shortly after the school gig James left Black Market Goods.
After a very short break they where back with a new line up of Natalie - Vocals/Guitar, Rob - Guitar, new bass player Tom Dukes and Mark - Drums, after their first gig they have followed up with a few acoustic performences and other gigs around Derby, they got added too Turn It Up a Belper based group that hold gigs around the Derby area. they performed as part of turn it up at Belper Leisure Centre on the 4th March. On 29th April Black Market goods where part of The Big Indoors the final Turn It Up gig of the year. and then on to perform at evens such as Belper Festival and Wirksworth Festival.
They have also produced a first cd, which was recorded with the help of a friend and is available at local gigs.
