De Rosa are a Scottish band formed in Bellshill but now based in and around Glasgow. The band was formed by main songwriter Martin John Henry in the early 2000’s. They are a four piece (brothers James and Neil Woodside on bass and drums respectively, with Chris Connick on keys/guitar).
De Rosa signed in 2004 to Lanarkshire label Gargleblast (run by Shaun Tallamy & Andy Miller, producer of Mogwai, Arab Strap, Sons and Daughters, Life Without Buildings, Scout Niblett and The Delgados amongst others) and it was following the release of their debut single ("Camera"/"All Saints Day") in August 2004 that they first attracted interest from DJs including the late John Peel, Steve Lamacq and others. De Rosa locked themselves away in Chem19 Studios, with producer Miller for the best part of 2005. The use of Chemikal Underground’s recording studio led to the Glasgow label releasing their debut album Mend.
The band spent 2006 touring and promoting their first album, which was released by Chemikal Underground Records in June. Recently De Rosa have embarked on support tours with Scottish indie bands Mogwai and Arab Strap.
They are currently writing material for their second album, due to be recorded in the early months of 2007.
