Dead Horse Ranch State Park

Originally named by the Irey family, who sold the land that became a park to the state of Arizona, Dead Horse Ranch State Park is located in Cottonwood, Arizona on the Verde River in an area known as the Verde River Greenway.[1] Located at approximately 3300 feet elevation, Dead Horse Ranch State Park covers 423 acres of land with 10 hiking trails, 22 campground sites and two picnic areas.

A key attraction at Dead Horse Ranch State Park is Verde River Day, which is held annually to celebrate the protection of the river's riparian habitat.[2]
