Deborah Eisenberg

Deborah Eisenberg is an American short-story writer and teacher.

Eisenberg grew up in suburban Chicago, Illinois, and moved to New York City, New York in the late 1960s. Her longtime companion is actor-writer Wallace Shawn. As of 2007, she lives in New York City and teaches at the University of Virginia.

Eisenberg has written four collections of stories, most recently Twilight of the Superheroes (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2006). Critic Ben Marcus, reviewing Twilight for The New York Times, called Eisenberg "one of the most important fiction writers now at work".[citation needed]
