Degirmendere

Degirmendere (Turkish: Değirmendere) is a municipal town in Kocaeli of Turkey. Although there are other towns in Turkey under the name of Degirmendere, this particular one is located on the south coast of Izmit Bay. It has different districts named Yuzbasilar, Yukari Degirmendere and Kurucesme. Degirmendere is known for its public cultural activities and the 1999 earthquake. Degirmendere lies between Gölcük and Halidere, which were also seriously damaged by the same earthquake.
