Denis Hamel (born May 10, 1977 in Lachute, Quebec) is a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger who is currently playing for the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL.

He was drafted 153rd overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. Hamel has also played with the Buffalo Sabres and Ottawa Senators. In the 2005-2006 season, Hamel set the Binghamton Senators team record for most goals in a season with 56. In addition, he was the captain of the Binghamton Senators for the 2005-2006 season.
Hamel is a quintessential example of a player that plays at a level somewhere between the AHL and the NHL. Hamel is very comfortable playing the AHL and gives the impression of being able to carry over his abilities in the NHL. However, due to a serious knee injury in 2000, Hamel is simply unable to skate at a high enough speed to be effective at his role as a scoring winger, and hence has only been given fourth line minutes during his NHL career.
In the 05-06 season, he played very few games with the Senators, but in the 06-07 season he is currently a regular forward, making up for the loss of Martin Havlat, Bryan Smolinski, and Vaclav Varada. However due to the recent acquisition of Mike Comrie after the team had a number of injuries, Hamel was relegated to backup duty when the Senators were at full strength again.
On February 10, 2007, the Thrashers claimed Hamel off waivers. After playing three games for Atlanta, he was placed on waivers and claimed by the Philadelphia Flyers on February 27, 2007.
