Denis Istomin (born September 7, 1986 in Tashkent) is a professional tennis player from Uzbekistan. Istomin recieved the Asian Wildcard into the 2006 Australian Open where he played world number one Roger Federer. Federer won in three straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 [1]. Relevant as of March 23, 2007, Istomin's career-high singles ranking was achieved on May 1, 2006, when he became World Number 186. Also relevant as of March 23, 2007, Istomin achieved his career-high doubles ranking on March 5, 2007, when he became World Number 159. As of March 23, 2007, Istomin is 215th in the ATP singles rankings, and 163rd in the ATP rankings for doubles.
