Changed some obsolete information: (Jarvi no longer music director, Daughtery no longer composer-in-residence, etc) Needs more history as well as information on current affairs such as the Max Fisher Music Center. [edit] Regarding proposed merger

I would like to strenuously register my opposition to this idea. This change will confuse people. The recordings after all are by "Detroit Symphony Orchestra," not by "Detroit (orchestra)."

There are plenty of orchestras that might be called by the city and 'orchestra' with 'Symphony' dropped. However, Wikipedia has a strong tradition of sticking with traditional and official names.

We should stick with the official name, "Detroit Symphony Orchestra". Respectfully, Dogru144 23:37, 28 October 2006 (UTC) A symphony is separate and distinct from its symphony.Dogru144 06:04, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
