i am an advanced doctoral student working on nationalism and the rôle of religion in the middle east, specifically with respect to Iran, Iraq, and Israel. i have also completed a comparative study of the battle of al-qādisiyyah and its changing perceptions through history. other interests of mine include shi`i millenarianism, political / radical / liberal Islam, and general issues of identity / history & memory.
