Dharmavaram is a city and a municipality in Anantapur district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is famous throughout India for producing silk sarees. The Dharmavaram Temples are important places of pilgrimage. Puttaparthi, the birth place and abode of Sathya Sai Baba is situated 30kms from Dharmavaram. Dharmavaram is a railway junction which falls under South Central Railway Zone of Indian Railways. Dharmavaram is just 40 kms away from Anantapur city.
The novel 'Warp & Weft' written by J Vinay, a Bangalore-born, Manchester-based author is set in Dharmavaram. The book details the rustic lifestyle in a lively manner.
