Digital Media Arts College

Digital Media Arts College (DMAC) is a private college in Boca Raton, Florida, USA, which offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts in Computer Animation and Graphic Design, co-founded in 2001 by Cynthia Jakeway, President and Tony Palmieri, Executive Vice President.
The school has a drawing/sculpting classroom, three advanced PC labs, two advanced Mac labs, two lecture classrooms, a Motion Capture Studio, and an online library (plus an agreement with a local state university for access to their library). Software taught includes Maya, Adobe and Flash, and the College has recently purchased several copies of Zbrush, although the teachers emphasize that the principles of animation and graphic design are universal, and that students spend their time optimizing their computer art skills in the given program time rather than learning multiple software interfaces. This better prepares students as technically skilled artists, and students should not fear taking jobs in companies that use software other than what the school teaches because the adjustment is simply learning a new interface. The Bachelor of Fine Arts programs include a variety of drawing classes, visual design classes, screenwriting, acting and many general education and liberal arts courses so that students will understand art outside of the computer context.
DMAC's current enrollment is over 300 students. Although 4 years new, the school makes industry contacts and demos student work by sending some students each year to SIGGRAPH.
