In a desperate attempt to combat Megatron's techno-organic virus on Cybertron, the Oracle Supercomputer reformats a group of surviving Transformers, rendering them immune to the plague and extremely powerful. Using the DNA schematics of former Maximal Dinobot, each warrior emerges as a hybrid of savage prehistoric power and advanced Cybertronian robotics...the result, the fearsome Dinobots are born!

Stubborn and surly, Dinotron is the most uncooperative of the Dinobots. Does not favor his new technorganic design but is disgusted by Megatron's "new order." Diamond plated "helmet" coupled with explosive speed send Vehicons flying. Giant tail can shattera 20 foot concrete cube while titanium hide makes him resistant to most attacks. Tail weapon deploys into spinning blade that immediately carbonizes and disintegrates all alloys with which it comes in contact.
Dinotron was one of the original five founding members of the Dinobots group. Like T-Wrecks, Dinotron is one of the only two units of the original team to be a former "pure blooded" Predacon.
Dinotron mostly closely resembles his precursor Dinobot in form and weaponry, however Dinotron lacks any real kind of honor code like Dinobot and is much more Predacon in his activities then any of his fellow Dinobots. He is often thought to have a sort of third-in-command position among the Dinobots but that is fan speculation only.
The Dinotron toy was part of the Dinobots faction of Beast Machines which featured no new molds but did release molds previously unseen in America. He was a recolor of Beast Wars Neo Hardhead; however Dinotron traces his roots even further back then that as Headhead was actually a slight retooling/recoloring of the Beast Wars Dinobot!
Although the Dinobots' intro states that the Dinobots received their beast modes through the slicing of Dinobot's DNA, it is likely that the Oracle also used the fossil chamber (seen in the Beast Machine series) to utilize Pachycephalosaurus DNA.
Dinotron does not appear to be a homage to any of the original Dinobots team in name or form. He seems instead to be a direct homage to the Maximal character Dinobot instead.

Dinotron's only appearance in the Transformers fiction was in the Transformers: Universe - Wreckers comic series.
Transformers: Universe - Wreckers #1 - In "Departure" the Wreckers, Mutants and Dinobots arrive on Cybertron and are sent on missions by the Oracle. Arcee, Dillo, Mol, Rav, Skywarp, Cyclonus, Rotorbolt and Devcon join the Wreckers.
Transformers: Universe - Wreckers #2 - In "Betrayal" - the Dinobots are attacked by the Dweller.
Transformers: Universe - Wreckers #3 - The Wreckers rescue a banished Quintesson who tells them a story of the origin of Cybertron. Dinobots meet up with Devcon, who is hunting Cryotek.
Transformers: Universe - Wreckers #4 - Unreleased issue. Main story would have merged the story with the other Universe comic. Artwork released on the internet contained appearances of the Dinobots, Devcon, Rook, Snarl, Skydive, Longhorn, Che and the Monsterbots.
