[edit] Pennsylvania State High School Ice Hockey Championship
Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information; it is an encyclopedia. The names and dates of winners of high school sporting events -- even at a statewide level -- do not meet our standards concerning notability, and so I deleted the article per the criteria for speedy deletion (specifcally, WP:CSD#A7). -- Merope 15:56, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Response: I am including the response and back and forth I had with Merope on this subject. For some reason she deleted it from her talk page. I have cut, and pasted it below, off of/from her talk page to mine. Dirk Pitt 21:19, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Pennsylvania State High School Ice Hockey Championship
I had created a Pennsylvania State High School Ice Hockey Championship history page, it existed for 10 minutes, and then Merope deleted it. Who are you and why did you do this? Do you work for wikipedia? You posted a question on the talk page and then right after that you deleted the article. I was cleaning it up AS you were deleting it. Don't delete my articles. I am being civil but if you delete something i started without a reasonable attempt to talk about it first ill report you somehow ok. thanks.

- thanks for your input. if you delete something i started again without a reasonable attempt to talk about it first ill report you. thanks. if you look around you will find:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_school_football http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_State_High_School_Activities_Association the catagory of High school sports associations in the United States
and if you keep looking you will find sites about state high school and amatuer sports championships like: Cahokia Conference List of University Interscholastic League events [[1]]
wikipedia is a free encyclopedia about everything that can be cited.
you say that Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information; but wikipedias definition of an indiscriminate collection of information does not include anything like the Pennsylvania State High School Ice Hockey Championship entry i created. so, like i said wikipedia is a free encyclopedia about everything that can be cited. it is very frustrating to have some like yourself interject themselves into an entry before it is even finished and cite rules they havnt seemed to read as reasons for deletion. This is all I am going to say and is the last time I ever hope to talk to you. Thank you.
[edit] Logo Creator?
Hi Dirk. Thanks for the suggestion.
I'll see if I can get the creators to include information (History and technology) into the submission here.

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Flyers Cup 99.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Flyers Cup 99.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:2007_Flyers_Cup_Banner.jpg
Everything in the entry has been supplied by the Philadelphia Flyers Fan Development office.
Thanks for uploading Image:2007_Flyers_Cup_Banner.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ↔NMajdan•talk 14:36, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Holy Ghost team pic.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Holy Ghost team pic.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
