Dixie Howell

Millard F. "Dixie" Howell(October 12, 1913-March 2, 1971) was a college football head coach at Idaho, and Arizona State. From 1938 to 1941, he coached at Arizona State, and compiled a 23-15-4 record. From 1947 to 1950, he coached at Idaho, where he compiled a 13-20-1 record. Before becoming a collegiate head football coach, Dixie Howell played football at the University of Alabama from 1932 to 1934. He was a consensus All-America selection in 1934 at the quarterback position. Howell is also a member of the all-time Rose Bowl team and was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1970. Howell was also noted as a great punter while at Alabama.
