[edit] Israeli Terrorism POV Dispute

Thank you. We need more people to help balance out the article (and to keep the Pro-Israel camp from reverting every single edit of the page). Jeus 18:27, 14 July 2005 (UTC)

Dear Sir; I accept your argument that Lebanese "civilians are paying the price [for Israeli retaliation], the LEAST we can do is mention it." However, in the interest of NPOV, I ask that in return, you to accept my statement involving the leaflets. To paraphrase your statement to me: You might be against Israel, but there are facts. Whether you or the UN agrees with the ethics of the leaflets is beside the point. The point is that leaflets were dropped and many Lebanese citizens did not evacuate and therefore are worth mentioning. --GHcool 17:18, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

"What was intended to be a disruption of mobility of Hezbollah and their foreign allies also had the residual effect of disturbing civilian mobility." I don't think it is in your place or anyone elses's to say what was intended are what was not intended. That's clearly POV. We're not here to be spokespeople for governments, organizations, etc. I also agree with Doge120, your edit implies that Lebanese were warned, thus are at fault for not fleeing. I advise rewriting both statements to conform with the NPOV policy --Inahet 18:11, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Also you should post your comments on the bottom of the page or under a subject that pertains to your message. --Inahet 18:16, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Help Remove POV in Guardians_of_the_Cedars

Hi Doge120. I noticed your comment, and I generally agree with it. Please help keep up the NPOV stance. I was shocked to see the first line of this article describe such a group as secular - to my understanding, this is blatant factual inaccuracy. It is difficult for people like us to remove POV statements from such articles, which are policed by hot-tempered editors with strong bias. However, it's our obligation to keep Wikipedia NPOV. Good luck, Nimur 21:53, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

You can also help remove POV from 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict and related articles, which lacks a Lebanese point-of-view. --Inahet 01:15, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
No problem, your input is appreciated. I see that you have made some edits already, have you found any POV problems with the article so far? --Inahet 03:12, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes, the article does lack a lot of information on the Lebanese side. The article mentions the casualities and people displaced but does not mention who is responsible (we know why). Also if you haven't already, take a look at the related articles

[edit] Hezbollah indiscriminate

I think they have a good case for saying its indiscriminate- we are told that the rockets arent guided and inaccurate although I am aware that there are legitimate targets like weapons factories and the Miron bunker complex targeted too.

Aside from that would you have any contacts in Lebanon that might help with some images of the destruction? A lot of the images have been removed as copyvio. 82.29.227.171 00:08, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

sorry, i know people in Lebanon, but there is no way i can get pictures of the destruction, the electricity comes and goes...I wonder why we cant out any pics?

I think there is some strictness on the use of press agency images but I did find some on flickr, the photographer, user Masser allowed them to be used. Uploaded them under ID mema435 82.29.227.171 12:53, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Care to comment?

There is a discussion on Roles of non-combatant State and non-State actors in the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict talkpage about the inclusion of detail for Israel. I am of the view that Israel should be included but the detail is being continually removed by User:Tewfik.

Tewfik's argument is what he considers the illegality of Hezbollah under UN 1559. How this has a bearing on a balanced representation of aid to the combatants is never made clear. Tewfik has not removed recent requests of arms sales to Israel such as jet fuel and GBU-28's but removed the history of such arms shipments. I believe he is pushing the POV that aid to Israel is only in response to the current crisis or the illegality of Hezbollah under 1559. US aid to Israel is in fact a long standing agreement responsible for the size and makeup of the IDF. Without the aid they would not have a military capable of engaging in conflict. This is a question of balance in the article and if you can take a look and support my position (was working under 82.29.227.171) that would be great. RandomGalen 16:56, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your comments on the article, please stay interested- he is still engaging in edit warfare. RandomGalen 11:27, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] POV

Thanks for notifying me; I'll see if I can help. I found a seven page report on US aid to the Israelis entitled U.S. Millitary Assistance and Arms Transfers to Israel: U.S. Aid, Companies Fuel Israeli Military by Frida Berrigan and William D. Hartung from this web site here. Click here to download the PDF file. This is part of the introduction

Much has been made in the U.S. media of the Syrian- and Iranian-origin weaponry used
by Hezbollah in the escalating violence in Israel and Lebanon. There has been no parallel
discussion of the origin of Israel’s weaponry, the vast bulk of which is from the United
States. “The billions of U.S. arms and aid it provides every year gives the Bush
administration substantial leverage in pressing Israel for a cease fire in its attacks on
Lebanon,” notes William D. Hartung, a Senior Fellow at the World Policy Institute in
New York. “Without at least discussing U.S. military support for Israel, it will be
difficult-- if not impossible-- for Americans to understand the options available to our
government in this crisis,” argues Frida Berrigan, a Senior Research Associate at the
Institute.

I think the drug trafficking allegations are bogus and should not be in the article. --Inahet 16:30, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Nevermind, I see that the report was already used as a source in the version before user:tewfik edited. I will look for more sources. --Inahet 16:51, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Islamic Barnstar Award

Please offer your opinion, vote, or whatever about your choice for the image to be used with the Islamic Barnstar Award at the Barnstar proposals page. Although there is consensus for the concept of an Islamic Barnstar Award, some editors would like to change the image for the award. I was just thinking you should be aware of this discussion because you have contributed to Islamic-related articles, received the Islamic Barnstar Award, or have contributed to the Islam-related Wikiprojects, etc.--JuanMuslim 1m 03:06, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
