Doreen Knatchbull, Baroness Brabourne

Doreen Knatchbull, Baroness Brabourne, CI (May 29, 1896 – August 27, 1979) was born The Lady Doreen Geraldine Browne, a daughter of the 6th Marquess of Sligo. On January 22, 1919, she married Michael Knatchbull, a son of Cecil Knatchbull-Hugessen, 4th Baron Brabourne and his eventual successor. They had two children:
- The Hon. Norton Cecil Michael Knatchbull, later 6th Baron Brabourne (1922 – 1943)
- The Hon. John Ulick Knatchbull, later 7th Baron Brabourne (1924 – 2005)
On February 15, 1933, her husband succeeded his father as 5th Baron Brabourne and Doreen became The Lady Brabourne.
She was murdered on August 27, 1979, aged 83 on Donegal Bay, County Sligo, Ireland along with Lord Mountbatten, The Hon. Nicholas Knatchbull and Paul Maxwell by a bomb planted in Mountbatten's fishing boat by the Provisional IRA.
