Doug Leslie
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Doug Leslie is a longtime University of Virginia Law professor, and is best known for his creation of the controversial "Case File Method." Instead of teaching substantive legal material, as most law classes do, Leslie focuses on building "legal skills". The "Case File Method" accomplishes this by presenting hypothetical legal situations and three to four case precedents for students, and then asking them to present legal arguments for the hypothetical client.
Leslie's "Case File Method" has not caught on widely, but Thomson West recently signed Leslie to a publishing deal with the hopes of proliferating the method further.[citation needed] Leslie currently has four complete courses prepared: Contracts, Property, Employment Law, and Sports Law. Leslie lives in Charlottesville, Virginia with his wife.
