[edit] Summary
This is the first episode of Hey Arnold. It first aired on October 7, 1996.
[edit] Synopsis
Arnold has a dream of him surfing millions of years ago. Helga wakes him up and tells him to get off the stage. The rehearsal is supposed to end but Helga does not think the cast of the play is ready. Helga tells them that they should come a half-hour earlier so they could run the show through again, and if anyone is late she'll hurt them. That night Arnold (who plays the banana) and Gerald (who plays the strawberry) get on the bus to school. After being humiliated Gerald wants to skip the play, which they do. Helga gives a "Supporting" speech before the final performance and sees that Arnold and Gerald are missing.
Arnold and Gerald get stuck downtown with no money and dressed as fruit. A strange man drops a bag of money, which was meant for a different couple of men dressed as fruit (perhaps as a secret code). They get new clothes and eat.
Harold and Eugene have to stall the crowd, and Helga gives her first poetic version of loving and hating Arnold.
The boys are living large at in the city, but get caught by the two guys who were supposed to get the money in the first place. They run into a psychic's house, he tells them that they've hurt somebody. The boys get a taxi and give the money to needy people.
Back at school, the show is almost ruined but the boys make it at the last second and end the show with the finale.
