Dr. Selar is a fictional character introduced in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation. She served as a medical doctor aboard the Enterprise D under chief medical officer Dr. Beverly Crusher. She was portrayed by Suzie Plakson.
The Vulcan doctor only appeared on screen in one episode of the series, The Schizoid Man, travelling on an away mission with Data to save a scientist. However, the character was mentioned on numerous occasions throughout the series, and again in the film Star Trek: First Contact suggesting she later served on the Enterprise E.
In the Star Trek: New Frontier novels by Peter David, Dr. Selar is the Chief Medical Officer of the USS Excalibur under Captain Mackenzie Calhoun. During her tenure aboard the Excalibur, she mates with the Chief Engineer, a hermaphrodite.
