This is the reading of the actual wave which best evidences to a reader what a "freak wave" reading looks like. The Drauper incident was the first such verified measurement of a freak wave by a scientific instrument. It is used in the article both to accompany the description of the verification at the Draupner platform, as well as to indicate to a lay reader what such a reading looks like, being a very clear representation of a genuine rare incident.
