Dremora

A Dremora is a fictional being from the Elder Scrolls, a series of videogames. They are lesser Daedra, the in-game term for demons, and appear humanoid with dark black skin and wearing plated armor with red markings and symbols. Dremora have appeared in at least four Elder Scrolls games, Daggerfall, Battlespire, Morrowind and Oblivion, where in the last three of these games the player is able to speak with certain Dremora, implying that these Daedra communicate linguistically.
In Oblivion, all Dremora drop "Deadra Hearts" which can be used as an ingredient to make potions. As they are treated as NPCs in-game, a special gem must be used by the player in order to capture their souls.
[edit] Servitude to Mehrunes Dagon
Dremora have been known to serve the Daedra lord Mehrunes Dagon, a dangerous, powerful and arguably evil Daedric prince. According to Elder Scrolls in-game lore, the Dremora did not always serve Mehrunes Dagon, but do so by their own choice. During the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the continent of Tamriel is invaded by Mehrunes Dagon's worshippers and minions, with the Dremora playing an important role both, as invaders and guardians.

Dremora have an overall humanoid appearance, although they lean to what many might consider a demonic theme. Their skin is black with red markings, and wear heavy armour. Dremora are also horned, ranging from short spikes to long, curling, ram-like tusks. The higher ranking Dremora seemingly carry these long horns, and they bear less armour (often possessing no helmet), as seen in Battlespire and Oblivion.
[edit] Ranking and Nomenclature
According to certain scriptures in-game, Dremora refer to themselves as 'The Kyn' ('the People'), contrasting themselves to other, lesser Daedra, whom they consider unthinking animals. The term 'kynaz', used by Dremora in-game, refers to a member of the Dremora race ('he of the Kyn'). Each rank is referred to as a 'caste'.
