[edit] Who is Dr. Eclectic?
Dr. Eclectic is a student of Chemical engineering at the University of Waterloo. I joined Wikipedia on October 19th, 2005 and am still taking my first breaths of wiki-air.
I happen to like my anonymity but I'm not paranoid about it either. There are plenty of personal details you can pick up from reading my user page. Anyways, 'nuff said.
Apart from my Wikipedia interests, I'm also a fan of Cricket (Pakistan) and Ice Hockey (Senators).
[edit] Plans
I am very interested in the potential hydrogen economy and hydrogen fuel cells, as I have research experience in this area. I'm not too happy with some of the articles on fuel cell related topics; they contain lots of information but they are not particularly well written as a whole. My plans are to work to increase the quality of existing fuel cell articles, create new articles on related topics and bring about a sense of coherence to the topic (as the existing articles don't tie together very well).
Articles I plan to create: Hydrogen storage (already a section in Hydrogen economy)
(thats it for now)
[edit] Current Tasks
[edit] Proton-exchange fuel cell
In keeping with my interests in updating the fuel cell articles, I've started with the proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell article. PEM fuel cells are now the most common fuel cells for commercial applications and development, and the article should reflect the amount of interest the topic generates. So far I've given some shape to the existing text, added a bit of history, cleaned up a bit of the Science>Reactions section and created a boilerplate for "types of fuel cell" articles. I really hope other users take an interest in these articles.
I need some images for the topic. The image that already exists on the Fuel cell article has an unknown copyright status, so I can't use that. If anyone could provide me with better images I'd be very grateful.
[edit] Why numbered equations are sexy!
Wikipedia is increasingly used as a reference website at the high-school and undergraduate level. I believe that for Wikipedia to live upto this label it's articles must be of high quality. Therefore, I endeavour to write articles as they would appear in any other reference material. If that means numbered equations (which it does) then so be it.
