Dudael
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Place of imprisonment for Azazel (one of the "fallen" angels), cohort of Semjaza.
Described in the book of First Enoch chapter 10 verse 4-7:
- And again the Lord said to Raphael: 'Bind Azazel hand and foot, and cast him into the darkness: and make an opening in the desert, which is in Dudael, and cast him therein. And place upon him rough and jagged rocks, and cover him with darkness, and let him abide there for ever, and cover his face that he may not see light. And on the day of the great judgement he shall be cast into the fire.
The location of Dudael is unknown.
In prophecies the names of places are often homonymic parallels to other places at the time of the fulfillment. Readers would enjoy the parallel to Dudael being Dujail (Iraq) a community 100km upriver of Tikrit where Saddam Hussein killed many of its residents, and for which he was executed by hanging on December 30, 2006. A full explanation of the passage can be found on page 42, in 1 Enoch - Explained, ISBN ISBN 1-894883-09-X.
The Book of Enoch is not considered part of the apocrypha as it was written too late (in the time of the Maccabees), around a century before Jesus. It is, however, considered canonical by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church
