Talk:Dungeon Master (disambiguation)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shouldn't this be at dungeon master instead of Dungeon Master? --Furrykef 01:26, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- No, because the first two meanings, at least, are proper nouns. -Sean Curtin 03:51, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)
The first sense occurs very often decapitalized...just perhaps not in official D&D material --Furrykef 01:43, 20 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- I know, but by its proper definition it's a proper noun. -Sean Curtin 02:29, 20 Jun 2004 (UTC)
But doesn't Wikipedia go by common usage? --Furrykef 07:11, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Yes, but spelling it without capitals is not the most common usage. -Sean Curtin 16:58, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Text from Dungeon Masters (now a redirect)
A Dungeon Master, "Dungeon Monitor" or "DM" is a person experienced in BDSM practice and safety who is appointed to oversee BDSM play in a Dungeon or at a BDSM party or event.
A DM's direction in a Dungeon is absolute and must be immediately obeyed, but is usually limited to requiring proper safety practices or to stopping unsafe play.
What training is required to become a DM varies from group to group, but the person usually has several years experience in the scene plus first aid and emergency medical training of some sort. Being selected as a DM is considered an honor in the BDSM community.
