[edit] Fleet Roster
I have created a tabular fleet roster. One major problem was in choosing a table layout. Given the number of predecessor organizations, using one line per order would have created a prohibitively-large table. Eventually, as DRT-ordered equipment takes over the fleet, this will be reasonable - but we're not there yet. Instead, I have decided to use one line per bus type per transit provider. This seems to work fairly well, although I'm not sure I'm happy with the sort sequence and column layout yet. Any feedback will be appreciated... Daveharr 02:00, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
I got info from one of the drivers that Oshawa received their 15 new flyers, and maintenance expected to have them up and running after march break. The driver and I joked how the maintenance crews are usually slack to meet their deadline, but none the less, the buses have been received.
[edit] Further Changes
Can anyone provide an appropriately licensed DRT bus photo (perhaps a Nova LFS)? Daveharr 22:43, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Route Grid, and....
Nice Work, on the Grid List, especially with M+R in Ajax/Pickering...A suggestion: 20 Westney also runs Sunday Service-a place to note that? Now, is there any further on the DRT Strike?? Bacl-presby 23:40, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- Both sides are playing chicken. The Region is warning of chaos if a strike happens, but meanwhile the union has not actually had a strike vote. No negotations are happening. Not sure if this kind of current news belongs in the article, though. Daveharr 18:09, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RT
After a conversation with mayor steve parish about rapid transit in ajax, i've added a section on rapid transit. here's the email. Further to the above noted matter, I have investigated this matter with Mr. Ted Galinis of Durham Region Transit and he advises me that the Kingston Road LRT is not being seriously contemplated in the near term. There have been some discussions with respect to extending the existing street car line a couple of miles further along Kingston Road but there has been no real activity on this matter at this time.
I am advised that Durham Regional Transit is working with GO Transit to do a preliminary review of the possibility of Transit Priority Measures (queue jump lanes, signal priorities, improved shelter amenities, etc.) on Highway 2.
It is also noted that the service plan prepared by ENTRA Consulting prior to the creation of Durham Regional Transit indicated that an LRT system could not be justified in the forseeable future.
I trust that the above assists you with respect to your investigations.
Sincerely,
Mayor Steve Parish (905) 619-2529 Ext 332 F# (905) 683-8207 steve.parish@townofajax.com
[edit] Bloor Victoria Extension
Recieved this email.
Good morning
You have heard correctly that the plan is to extend Bloor Victoria to Bayly and even beyond. The service will be bi-directional.
What I am unable to tell you at this time is the actual timing for the completion of this. We are about to begin a comprehensive study on "next steps" to determine what needs to be done and then of course prioritize what gets done first.
As for 15 or 30 minute service, rush hour versus all day service, none of that has yet to be determined.
Thank you for your suggestion regarding the Harwood bus and transfer point. This will be taken into consideration during our review.
Regards
Doug Waite Planning
[edit] 2006 Strike
Please remember to update this page as new developments unfold in the strike. Thanks, Jon
- Not much to report right now. No talks have occurred nor are any scheduled. The union is taking the legal steps to force binding first contract arbitration, but this is expected to take several weeks. Daveharr 20:13, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
