U.a. Carlos Gussenhoven (2004) zeigt am film francis ford coppolas "the conversation" (1974), dass Stress/Wortakzent gemeinhin als durch die lautstärke (mit-)determiniert angesehen wird. "This film illustrates one of the most widespread misconceptions about the prosodic structure (...) It is the incorrect intuition that stress amounts to a louder pronounciation (...). Among phoneticians, the myth was dispelled in the 1950s (..)." Die englishe wikipedia schreibt dazu: "Stressed syllables are often perceived as being more forceful than non-stressed syllables. Research has shown, however, that although dynamic stress is accompanied by greater respiratory force, it does not mean a more forceful articulation in the vocal tract."
Akzent wird vor allem durch den F0-Verlauf bestimmt, NICHT (oder nur sehr wenig) durch lautstärke. Dass gesetzte akzente in der sprache als lauter empfunden werden ist eine psychologische, keine physikalische tatsache.
