Talk:E4 (TV)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
As of October 2004 Season 5 of The Sopranos is premiering on E4 only 6 days ahead of Channel 4, which seems to disprove the theory that the delay is scaled with popularity. Lee M 02:34, 6 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Likewise, Desperate Housewives is premiering just 7 days before Channel 4 (to be precise, episode 2 was screened immediately after episode 1 had screened on Channel 4 and this pattern was repeated in successive weeks, so that each episode from #2 on was screened 167 hours before its Channel 4 debut). [Since then Lost has followed the same pattern.]
- For this reason I have now removed the (?ir)relevant paragraph:
- “It should be noted that since the launch of E4, premium American imports such as those mentioned above will often be screened in advance of their showing on Channel 4. The delay appears to scale with popularity, that is to say that ER will be 2 weeks ahead on E4, Sopranos a month, Six Feet Under several months, and The West Wing several years. The last West Wing shown on Channel 4 was the third season.”
[edit] The West Wing
It isn't going to be shown on E4 anymore, just More4
texas.veggie deleted the reference to the drug Ecstasy with the comment: "(deleted the vaguely ludicrous reference to the drug -exstasy-. piffle!)" Actually it's not piffle - when E4 started there was a lot made of the reference in the papers and elsewhere, and the E4 logo still looks vaguely like a tablet. Suggest restoring the reference.
