eCollege is a commercial, propriety Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and an enrollment marketing firm (Datamark) based in Denver, Colorado (US) and Salt Lake City, UT (US) respectively. Founded in 1996 as Real Education, eCollege is an online tool employed by higher education and k-12 (eClassroom division) schools to help deliver a comprehensive solution for distance learning in addition to typical CMS capabilities of spreading classroom materials. Designed for full-distance course delivery, eCollege has all of the tools necessary to provide online classes in full-distance, hybrid, or supplemental instruction. In the classroom, eCollege can be used for many things such as threaded discussions, test taking, and turning in papers. Instructors and Students can also use eCollege to distribute notes and host synchronous Chat and Whiteboard sessions (powered by Elluminate) for classrooms.

In addition to a Course Management System, eCollege provides three other significant aspects of a distance education program. As a true .ASP solution, eCollege provides the technological infrastructure for all schools using the system. (There is no internal hosting of the eCollege solution.) Additionally, eCollege provides critical support for all users at all levels. With a 24X7X365 helpdesk, student and faculty can reach help via email or phone any time of day or night. As well, operational support is provided to each school eCollege works with, allowing the school to grow strategically without necessitating new personnel. Finally, eCollege provides a full suite of administration tools which allows for on-demand reporting, messaging, course duplication, student enrollment, evaluation, etc.

Lastly, eCollege also provides several in-house consulting and customization options for schools. From training to course development to integrations with 3rd party products and systems, eCollege sets itself apart from other VLE's by providing "one stop shopping" for their customers.
