Edward Francis Bouchee (born March 7, 1933 in Livingston, Montana) was a Major League Baseball first baseman from 1956 to 1962. "Child Molester"? A consistent allegation has followed Ed Bouchee since 1958. The few known facts are: Washington Post article February 21, 1958, Ed Bouchee "pleads guilty (in a Spokane Washington courtroom)to a series of sexual offences(eg: indecent exposure to females under the age of 18)against young girls". Washington Post article March 6, 1958, Ed Bouchee "placed on three years probation on charge of indecent exposure". Washington Post article June 16 1958, Ed Bouchee (after three months of psychiatric care and rehabilitation)"is physically and mentally ready to return to MLBB". Washington Post article July 1, 1958 "Ford Frick ok's Bouchee return". It is clear Mr Bouchee had a very serious personal problem, however it seems that with help he was able to overcome this problem and lived and is still living a decent and honorable life. For those who continue to harbor resentments against him(some Phillies fans have called for his name to be stricken from the official history site)many would suggest that he has proven himself over the last 49 years to be worthy of forgiveness.
[edit] =Trivia
- Bouchee's bases-loaded triple against Bob Friend of the Pittsburgh Pirates allowed pinch runner John Kennedy, the first black player in Philadelphia Phillies history, to score his only major league run. {Connie Mack Stadium -- April 24, 1957}
