[edit] Biography
Ed Boyd grew up in the suburbs of Miami, Florida. He enrolled in the United States Navy soon after his high school graduation and served during the U.S./Israeli invasion of Lebanon.
After being discharged from the military, Ed became homeless for a brief time and soon became involved with the Community for Creative Non-Violence (CCNV), the homeless advocacy organization headed by activist Mitch Snyder. Ed also lived in Vermont before moving to Baltimore, where he resides today, working as a recruiter for a temp employment agency.
Ed Boyd and his running mate, James Madigan, received the Green Party nomination for Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Maryland.
[edit] Campaign issues
Of note, he is opposed to the proposed Maryland Intercounty Connector superhighway project (he will be the only anti-ICC candidate on the ballot), and his campaign has called for the re-regulation and "Marylandization" (state takeover and control) of the state's electric utilities (this position is also unique among the gubernatorial candidates).
[edit] Endorsements
On July 6, 2006, the Democracy for America affiliate Democracy for Baltimore officially endorsed Boyd's candidacy for Governor.
