Edith Weston
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Edith Weston is a village in the county of Rutland in the East Midlands of England. It is on the south-eastern bank of Rutland Water and is home of the sailing club.
The village is named after the queen Edith of Wessex, (1029 – 1075), the wife of Edward the Confessor and sister of Harold Godwinson.
The wooden village hall "was erected to the memory of men of Edith Weston who gave their lives for their country’s cause in the Great War and also in grateful thanksgiving of those who returned 1914 – 1918"
St George's Barracks is located to the south and east of the village; this was previously RAF North Luffenham.
