Education City

Education City is a compound in Doha, the capital city of Qatar, that with funding from the nonprofit Qatar Foundation and its founder, her Royal Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned, has been set aside for the establishment of branch campuses of five American universities, as well as several local educational and research organizations.
Built and funded through the Qatar Foundation, Education City includes five American schools:
- Georgetown University (est. 2005) - Overseas branch of the School of Foreign Service [1],
- Weill Medical College of Cornell University (est. 2001) - Offers the Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar
- Virginia Commonwealth University (est. 1999) - Offers arts and communications programs
- Texas A&M University (est. 2003) - Offers an engineering program through Texas A&M at Qatar
- Carnegie Mellon University (est. 2004) - Offers business and computer science programs,
Local programs include:
- Qatar Science & Technology Park - Premises and services for technology-based companies and entrepreneurs
- Academic Bridge Program - University-preparation school
- Qatar Academy - A school offering the International Baccalaureate
- Qatar Diabetes Association - Serves public health and does research on Diabetes
- Social Development Center - Aims to promote income equality

- RAND-Qatar Policy Institute (est. 2003) - Middle East branch of international policy analysis organization, the RAND Corporation
