Egvad Municipality

Egvad is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Ringkøbing County near the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in west Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 377 km², and has a total population of 9,396 (2005). Its mayor is Kent Skaanning.
The municipality's main town and the site of its municipal council is Tarm.
Neighboring municipalities are Grindsted to the east, Aaskov and Skjern to the north, Holmsland to the west, and Blaabjerg, Varde, and Ølgod to the south. Ringkøbing Fjord defines its northwestern border.
By January 1, 2007 Egvad municipality will cease to exist due to Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Holmsland, Ringkøbing, Skjern, and Videbæk municipalities to form the new Ringkøbing-Skjern municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 1,485 km² and a total population of 57,818 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Midtjylland ("Mid-Jutland Region").
