Elmstead Market

Elmstead Market is a village in the Tendring district of Essex. It lies 3 km northeast of Wivenhoe and 6 km east of Colchester. It is on the A133 road which until a few years ago was the main road to Clacton, Frinton and Harwich. The A120 road constructed to bypass Colchester and Elmstead Market has reduced the volume of through traffic considerably.
The Six Bumps just behind the cricket ground is a favourite of youths in the village to practice their tricks. Often a place where swing ropes are set up, it is the focal point of enjoyment in the village.
Elmstead is a hub of activity in terms of commerce, with many shops in its history ranging from the notorious Flair Hair, Betta Aquatics and Mikes Golden Fish Dish, regularly voted as one of the best chip shops in Essex.
Elmstead Market Parish Church The church is dedicated to Saint Anne and Saint Lawrence. The Parish Church Of St. Anne & St. Laurence, Elmstead Web page. The Beth Chatto Gardens lie just outside the village.
