Talk:Emiliano Mercado del Toro

"It is highly unusual for a man to hold this title: the 16 consecutive preceding holders were female, and 39 of the top 40 oldest persons are female" - what does this last part mean? 39 of the top 40 oldest persons ever, or 39 of the top 40 oldest persons currently living?--HisSpaceResearch 03:19, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- It's your last assumption, my dear friend. Extremely sexy 13:24, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] World's oldest person?
Emiliano Mercado del Toro is not definitely the world's oldest person of all. For the love of God, there could be people in the world that are even older, like Alberta Davis, for instance. Marcus2 14:29, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- Right, but never proven, as he is, so officially speaking he is indeed the world's oldest person. Extremely sexy 15:02, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
Emiliano is the "world's oldest person" titleholder. The very use of quotes indicates that this is a qualifier. No one who claims to be older has come remotely close to being accepted as validated. They are all free to apply. → R Young {yakłtalk} 20:19, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- That's exactly it - oldest proven person living. I do find it odd, yet somehow cool, that Emiliano, as a man, is the oldest person in the world, and the only man in the top ten oldest living people. I hope he lives longer than Jeanne Calment did. This man is just over 95 years older than me. I find that amazing, as a twenty year old.--HisSpaceResearch 07:53, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
The odds of Emiliano catching Jeanne Calment are about 1 in 128...meaning given 128 115-year-old males, there would be an even chance of one making it to 122.45 years old. → R Young {yakłtalk} 12:53, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I know it's not likely. Hey, we're breaking talk page guidelines here by using this as a forum for discussion about the article's subject instead of a guide to writing a better article.--HisSpaceResearch 13:37, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Kind of an ironic comment, considering you started it (i.e. the discussion about whether he will catch Jeanne Calment...quite ridiculous, in my opinion, to be speculating about seven years in the future...)→ R Young {yakłtalk} 02:51, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

- So what, he is more than 80 years older than I am, and I really do hope he will still be living when I turn 35 (May 2nd). Extremely sexy 15:32, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
That's my birthday, Bart!→ R Young {yakłtalk} 02:52, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- So you too, my dear friend? Extremely sexy 13:35, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well, looks like he's 16th oldest person in the world now, and in less than a week, he should be the 15th... assuming he doesn't die before then...--HisSpaceResearch 18:48, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, shit. Oh well...--HisSpaceResearch 19:22, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed: he did day one day before. Extremely sexy 00:24, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- Haha he died! that sucks :( Bifgis 02:29, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

I was hoping he would reach 116 and just came to the article a few hours ago to check on his progress. Oh well still did very well to reach 2007! :) YourPTR! 18:15, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Never Married/Married Three Times?
Greetings,
I've been told by sources that talked to the family that Emiliano 'never married.' He had three girlfriends, which may have been mistranslated from Spanish into 'spouses' and then 'married three times.' Checking the media stories, about half say he married and half didn't. However, from a somewhat insider position, he didn't. The 1930 census lists him as single. If I'm wrong, I'll be OK with changing it, but I'm quite certain he didn't marry.65.81.28.227 06:17, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed, he did not. I'll add some details to the article on the subject Demf 15:19, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you very much indeed, dear friend. Extremely sexy 11:11, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
