Enfield 8000
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Enfield 8000 was a 2-seater battery-electric city car, produced in the United Kingdom by Enfield Automotive in the early 1970s. The company was acquired by the Greek Neorion company and production was transferred to the Greek island of Syros (the cars being only finished in the United Kingdom). It had a top speed of around 40 mph, and a range of 30–35 miles. Only around 100 were manufactured. The Greek Enfield-Neorion company developed some vehicles itself, including a "jeep" version of the 8000 model aiming at the rent-a-car market in the Greek islands. However, no permit was issued for its mass production by the Greek state, due to tax categorization issues connected with its electric power.
