English Music Festival
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Under Em Marshall's enthusiast and passionate supervision, the English Music Festival (E.M.F.) is dedicated to promote the works of British composers.
"The English Music Festival is an exciting project that celebrates Britain’s rich musical heritage by showcasing the brilliance, innovation and beauty of English music."
Not many people are as passionate about English music as is Em Marshall, underlining the fact that most of the music of her country has been unjustly neglected---until now. Marshall is on a mission to change that, of course with help of many people including singers, musicians, conductors, scholars and fans of the genre. The first annual musical Festival that she has organised took place in the Oxfordshire countryside in 2006. The next annual festival is currently being planned for Spring 2008. Volunteers and donations are warmly welcomed to help make the next project a great success.
The activities are primarily committed to the promotion of English music---through education ("introducing children to the wealth of our musical heritage"), public events (concerts, discourses) and by supporting artists who foster the appreciation of British composers.
You can find more information about the E.M.F. on the official website. It contains a lot of details and some interesting web links as well.
