Enpi (elbow strike)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Enpi, or empi (猿臂, lit. "monkey elbow") is a Japanese martial arts term used in karate. It means "elbow strike." There are several kinds of elbow strikes, classified by the direction they hit from. Upward elbow strikes and forward elbow strikes use the fist-chest interface as a pivot. Side elbow strikes translate the elbow, rather than rotating it around a point.
It should not be confused with enpi (kata), which is a karate kata.
