Ernest Cox

Ernest F. G. Cox (1883-1959) was an engineer and marine salvage expert from Wolverhampton. Between 1924 and 1931 his company, Cox & Danks, successfully raised 35 of the German fleet that had been scuttled at Scapa Flow in 1919. Joseph Gores, in his interesting book Marine Salvage: The Unforgiving Business of No Cure, No Pay (Doubleday, 1971), gives a good account of Cox's many feats.
