El escudo se compone de tres campos
- dos superiores:
- La cruz de Calatrava, por su pertenecia a la Orden
- El escudo de armas del Marqués de Santa Cruz, un tablero de ajedrez rodeado de ocho cruces de San Andres.
- Uno en la base, con un barril de vino.
Lo rodea El lema "Muy Heroica Ciudad Valdepeñas" , dado por el Rey Fernando VII por los sucesos del 6 de Junio de 1808 y el nombramiento de Ciudad por la Reina Maria Cristina en 1895.
