Etude in Twelve Exercises
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Etude in Twelve Exercises was a set of études written by Franz Liszt in 1826 when he was still a teenager. These developed into Douze Grandes Etudes (1837), and later the Transcendental Etudes, the version commonly heard today. Each etude in the set is focused on certain technical difficulties. For intermediate pianists they are excellent etudes, and if one is planning on playing the later 12 Transcendental Etudes (3rd version) then these are good places to start gaining the technical abilities.
